Creative Writing Workshop

Creative Writing Workshops

Mrs. Stroud

“There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.” -- Maya Angelou

What is it? Mrs. Stroud will provide a unique opportunity for students to dabble, experiment, experience and enrich their education. Creative writing is a wonderful way for students to stretch their writing skills in new directions with the guidance of mentor texts and the support of a collaborative group of peers.

Each session will run from 5-8 weeks and focus on a different genre of writing (see schedule of sessions below). Students will read and study exemplars of that genre before venturing off on their own pieces. At the end of each session, students will choose a piece to revise and polish for publication in a Sage literary magazine.
Class sizes will consist of 10-15 students per session.
Materials: Students will need their own journals/notebooks and a writing utensil.
At each class meeting, students will sign in and leave the best number to reach a parent.
