Mimi Newstadt, Middle School Art & MYP Coordinator

Mimi Newstadt is the Middle School Visual Arts Instructor and Middle Years Programme (MYP) Coordinator at Sage International School of Boise.  She first entered the field of education as a Montessori teacher in Telluride, Colorado, after receiving her Bachelor’s of FIne Arts (BFA) from the University of Colorado-Boulder in Art Education and Studio Art.  One of her great loves aside from children and animals is modern abstract oil painting, and she visits art museums whenever possible.  Mimi went on to earn a second Bachelor’s of Arts (BA) in Elementary Education from Boise State University as well as a Master’s of Education (MA) in Educational Leadership from the University of Idaho-Boise.  She has taught grades K-8 in both regular grade-level classrooms as well as visual arts classrooms in Ketchum, Idaho; Fairbanks, Alaska; Santa Fe, New Mexico; and Boise, Idaho.  She enjoys traveling and is fascinated by languages and culture.  So much so that she spent 8 years living and working in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, where she became a fluent in Spanish and knowledgeable about living day to day in another culture.  Mimi loves her job teaching art to 6th, 7th, and 8th graders at an IB school; and she is thoroughly enjoying the challenge of stewarding the MYP program at Sage into fruition.
