It was an exciting first week. After a lot of hard work by the faculty, parents, and our construction crew, students were able to experience a school that has been in the planning stages for over three years. Thank you, parents, for believing and supporting Sage International School of Boise.

Sage School updates:
• Thank you for all the feedback over the first week. Staff will be working on all of your ideas and comments as we move forward as a school community.
• Attached is a new map for arrival and pickup of students. Following the green and blue arrows on the map will enable a smooth flow of traffic and safety for our students.
• “Build A Classroom” donations are going well, but we still have many items available for purchase on the website. These classroom items will help teachers provide our students with an outstanding educational experience.
• In the coming week we will post a wish list of items for the school through purchase or donation by parents and the community. Look for the list in the school faculty lounge (kitchen) and on our website.
• Mr. Keller will be conducting a volunteer orientation on Wednesday September 1, 2010 at 6:00PM at the school for those parents that are interested in classroom volunteering at the school for the coming school year.

As our school continues to move forward nothing is more critical to our sustainability than attendance by our students. Our state funding depends on our school attendance and every absence is counted against our total funding for the year. As a school community we need to make every effort to ensure 100% attendance of our students everyday!

Sage staff are busy putting their classrooms in order and finishing touches are being applied to our new school by parents. See everyone at the open house on Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00.

Sage School Picnic

Please join us at Municipal Park in Boise on Sunday, August 8th from 5:00 to 7:00 for a Sage International School barbeque and potluck dinner. We have reserved sites 2 and 3 at the park (look for the turquoise balloons). Bring the family and come mingle with your fellow Sage parents and youngsters. Sage will provide hotdogs and lemonade. Please bring your favorite dish to share. Hope to see you there!

The Sage Phoenix

Sage School, a phoenix is a mythical school that has risen from the ashes of an old office building. I can say first hand that I have personally watched this amazing transformation. To date all classrooms have been constructed and color will be added in the coming week, we are ahead of schedule. Also, a school sign will shortly grace the front of our new building. Legend has it that Sage has a 500 to 1000 year life-cycle, even with the current status of educational funding in Idaho. Drive by and take a look when you have time and look for an email from the parent network with additional information.

Old Walls Down, New Walls Up!!

Change had always been fascinating to me, but watching the transformation from a vacant building to our new school has brought a whole new meaning to the word “change”. All week, I have watched and participated first hand in the deconstruction and reconstruction of Sage school. I can tell you first had that this place will be an exceptional place for students, teachers and families to excel. Make sure you stop by the school and look in the windows.

Sage School Grants Reach $820,000

Sage International School of Boise was awarded a $100,000 grant from the Albertson Foundation. The Alberton Foundation grant will be used towards the remodel of our current building at 457 E. Parckcenter Blvd. The award of the Albertson Grant brings our school grants total to $820,000.

See everyone next Wednesday. It will be the official beginning of our extraordinary school community and a gathering that will produce much excitement. All the K-7 classroom teachers have been hired and our music teacher. I will be introducing them at the gathering.

Town Tall Meeting April 18, 2010

Mr. Keller, Sage School Principal will be holding an information night for parents at 5:30PM on April 18, 2010 at the school building located at 457 E. Parkcenter Blvd. The school is located behind the vacant bank and adjacent to the vacant lot. This will be a chance to hear new information about the schools progress and for parents to ask questions. Hope to see many of you there.

April Showers Brings…..

…Much excitement to Sage International School. Several teachers have been hired and several more will be in place in the coming weeks. The teachers come with a diverse international background and I look forward to introducing many of them this month. April showers will also bring news from our parent network and information on events leading up to your involvement with our school community. Sage will host another informational night in April for those that still have questions, so stay tuned.
